Fit and Fun for Adults with Disability
SABAH’s Adults Fit and Fun program provides an adaptive recreational program for adults challenged by disability.
Adults challenged by disability are particularly vulnerable to the physical problems associated with a sedentary lifestyle. In order to provide these individuals with the tools for a healthy lifestyle, SABAH created the Adults Fit and Fun program to introduce participants to activities such as volleyball, disc golf, t-ball, football, and floor hockey during the summer months, as well as adaptive ice skating during the winter months. Participants also take part in outdoor programming opportunities in New York State Parks; such as birding, nature hikes, beach walks, and snowshoeing throughout the year.

In addition to the benefits of physical activity, adults with disabilities in the program experience new opportunities for socialization, greater independence and increased self-esteem. SABAH collaborates with multiple group homes and adult day habilitation facilities in the region to reach adults challenged by disability.
